Pir Goth remains closed on third consecutive day
Khairpur July 7, 2009: Tense situation prevailed in Pir Jo Goth on Tuesday the third consecutive day; complete shutter down strike was observed in Pir Jo Goth, the main business town of taluka Kingri for third consecutive day for the first time in history of taluka Kingri.
The government employees attended their offices but the visiting people did not come for their regular work activities whereas trade activities remained completely suspended; the official work at government offices was carried out by keeping the offices locked.
The situation is in reaction to murder of three Ansari community persons namely Abdul Razaque Ansari, Abdul Waheed Ansari and Nisar Ansari.
The enraged protesters marched in the city on Tuesday; reports received here said that the angry people also set ablaze two houses of opponent group on Tuesday. The opponent Rind community people have vacated their houses to migrate from the area after the incident.
RPO Sukkur Mohammad Ramzan Channa has immediately removed SPO/DSP Pir Jo Goth Hamz Ali Sahito on negligence charges; however, no new SPO has so far been deployed.
Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM) leader and renowned nationalist leader comrade Mujtaba Shah Rashdi; JSQM district president Amjad Mehesar and others have announced to mourn for three days the murder of three innocent Sindhi people. They said that one person Amanullah Ansari, a political activist was already murdered into same dispute over plot ownership. They further announced that JSQM would stage a district-level demonstration on July 9, 2009 in protest against murder of the Ansari community persons. Talking to press reporters in Pir Jo Goth they said that murder of Sindhi people is a regrettable act.
Growers of Abul Wah block highway: water shoratge
Khairpur July 6, 2009: Tail-end abadgars of Abul wah and Ghulam Ali minor set a hunger strike camp on National High way near Ranipur on Monday the second consecutive day.
A large number of tail-end abadgars of the said canal and minor observed hunger strike in protest against unavailability of irrigation water. Growers Siddique Bhelar, Zakir and Rang Ali Shahani told the journalists that cotton, banana, vegetables and other crops and orchards are getting spoiled due to unavailability of irrigation water since a long time; due to which they are on protest.
They demanded that irrigation water be provided in order to save many abadgars’ families from destruction. They alleged that the irrigation water shortage was artificial whereas none of the irrigation officials are listening to them.

Tripple murder in Pir Goth
Khairpur July 6, 2009: Three persons of Ansari community including a father and son were killed and two others injured. Later fear and harassment gripped Pir Jo Goth, the head quarter due to which the trade activities remained completely suspended on Monday the second consecutive day.
Reports received here said that six unidentified armed men on motor bike some of them wearing veils opened fire on auto-shop owner Abdul Razaque Ansari on Sunday evening; therein two persons namely Abdul Waheed Ansari, 25 and Nisar Ansari were killed on the spot whereas Abdul Razaque, Wajid Ansari and Dadan Lashari a passer-by were injured in the firing. After this incident, the armed persons opened aerial firing and managed to escape off successfully.
Ansari community persons placed the two dead bodies before PS Pir Jo Goth and staged protest demonstration against police inefficiency. The protestors raised slogans against police.
They told the local journalists that one month ago Amanullah Ansari, PML (F) activist was killed in day-light at his shop but the accused persons nominated in FIR were not arrested by police despite continuous protests by Ansari community therefore, this second incident has taken place. Injured person Abdul Razaque being in severe condition was taken to Chandka Medical College Hospital Larkana where he died on Monday night. In reaction to the three murders, hundreds of angry persons set ablaze one car, van and five shops of the opponent group.
Abdul Razaque Ansari was a notable of Ansari community. After his death some agitated people set ablaze some more shops of opponent group on Monday.
The motive behind this incident is said to be a dispute over possession of a plot between Ansari community and Naseer and others. SHO PS Pir Jo Goth has been removed on immediate basis.
The three dead bodies were laid to rest in native graveyard in Pir Jo Goth after meeting legal formalities. However, no case was registered with PS Pir Jo Goth nor any arrest was made till filing of this news. In a second incident some unidentified armed men killed a banana trader Mohammad Yasin Kalhoro, 30 resident of Bilhan near Bodli Mahesar taluka Kingri on Sunday late evening. He was on his way to his village when the unidentified armed men on motor bike intercepted him and after identifying him killed him and escaped.

Taluka Faiz Gunj remains closed to protest power outage

Khairpur July 6, 2009: On call of Shehri Ittehad taluka Faiz Gunj a complete shutter down strike was observed in Bhango Behin, Pakka Chang, Karoondi and other main business towns of taluka Faiz Gunj district Khairpur on Monday; large number of Shehri Ittehad activists, citizens and villagers of taluka Faiz Gunj reached Pakka Chang and observed token hunger strike for more than three hours.
Later, the protestors reached Nawabshah-Khairpur road and set ablaze tyres on the road due to which traffic remained suspended for some time. Shehri Ittehad activists namely Altaf Khand, Allah Bux and others said while talking to press reporters that there is no electricity in Faiz Gunj taluka since 2 pm on Sunday; they have even spent the whole night without electricity.
They added that people are facing hardships and the trade activities have been suspended due to heat wave. They said that there has been artificial electricity load-shedding in taluka Faiz Gunj since the month of June particularly in rural areas of the taluka. However, some local people told this correspondent on cell phone that the electricity supply was restored in Pakka Chang only at 2 pm on Monday.

deaf girl criminally assaulted in Pir Goth

Khairpur July 5, 2009: A deaf girl was raped by a villager in village Ghurri area taluka Kingri.
Reports received here said that a deaf girl identified as Saeeda, aged about 14 years was standing outside village in village Ghurri area when a villager forcibly took her to a deserted area on Saturday evening and raped her. Later, the accused escaped from the scene.
Mst. Khursheed the mother of Saeeda along with her daughter protested before press reporters in Pir Jo Goth on Saturday late evening. She told the press reporters that her daughter is deaf and the accused person who is an influential person has done great injustice with them. She added that the police have not taken any step despite complaint and the medical check-up of her daughter has also not been carried out despite her demand for that..
She warned to protest before RPO Office in Sukkur if the accused person was not arrested within 24 hours. When contacted the SPO Pir Jo Goth on cell phone on Sunday he said that FIR was lodged with PS Pir Jo Goth by complainant Aijaz Ali, the brother of the deaf girl against accused Ali Mohammad alias Maddo Khaskheli under section 376 PPC. On the other hand, dead body of a woman identified as Sultana Bibi, 50 was found from crop fields on Saturday near village Dibi Taluka Gambat. Her relatives told the press reporters in Gambat that her death took place due to heat wave in crop fields.

Protest against removal of encroachment in Therhi

Khairpur July 4, 2009: Score of protestors protested on Therhi Railway Phatak for about three hours on Saturday against demolishing their construction on Jail road and its surrounding area. Reports said that Taluka Municipal Administration (TMA) Khairpur along with police constables demolished the said construction on Saturday late night which was constructed some years ago. The demolished construction included small shops, two hotels and other construction.
The demolishing took place in order to remove encroachments on directives of high officials, TMA sources said. When the owners and other related people saw the demolition on Saturday morning at about 10 am they protested against it and blocked both doors of Therhi Railway Phatak.
The protestors also set on fire tyres on Sukkur-Khairpur road and other surrounding link roads which connect Khairpur and Sukkur. Due to this a huge traffic towards Sukkur, Nawabshah and Khairpur was suspended for about three hours. The protestors raised slogans against TMA Khairpur and the police and said that they had been carrying out their trade activities there since last many years to earn their bread and butter.
They added that the action has given a practical example of snatching bread and butter from common people in today’s democratic government tenure.
The police tried to convince the protestors to end their demonstration but failed to do so. Ahmed Ali Qureshi, the EDO (Revenue) Khairpur met the protestors on the protest spot as representative of District Administration Khairpur and held talks with the protestors. The EDO (Revenue) Khairpur asked the owners of construction to show their property papers and ownership records so that they may be provided with justice in the matter. He further asked them to hold a meeting wherein versions of TMA and the owners would be listened.
Thereof, the protestors ended their demonstration peacefully. Some sources said that some passenger trains including both up and down were stopped at Rohri and Khairpur Railway station due to the demonstration; but the Railway authorities did not confirm it.

Khairpur July 4, 2009: Police force has been deployed at grave of Tasleem Solangi in Hajna Shah village taluka Kingri PS Ahmedpur on Saturday.
Reports said that four police officials were deployed at grave of Tasleem Solangi. According to local journalists of Pir Jo Goth the police have been deployed for re-post mortem of dead body of Tasleem Solangi which is expected to be carried out on July 8, 2009 in connection to re-inquiry into Tasleem Solangi murder case.
When contacted the area police officials for reason behind police deployment they avoided to give any information about it.
They added that some police high-ups are expected to visit village Hajna Shah and the police officials have been deployed for that.

Pindi girl found in Khairpur

Khairpur July 3, 2009: A girl resident of Rawalpindi has reached PS Faiz Gunj and appealed the police for protection. Reports said that one girl identified as Ambreen, 13-14 is in police custody at PS Faiz Gunj on Friday the second consecutive day.
The girl reached PS Faiz Gunj on Thursday evening and appealed the police for protection. According to police the girl is resident of Amin Colony, Rawalpindi and some persons kidnapped her and kept her in some village of taluka Faiz Gunj from where the girl managed to escape and reached PS Faiz Gunj.
Police told the local press reporters of Faiz Gunj that according to girl she was in unconscious condition when she was brought here and when she came into her conscious she saw herself being kept in a house. PRO to DPO Khairpur confirmed on contact that the girl was in police custody at PS Faiz Gunj.
The PRO added that the girl’s relatives and a police party from Rawalpindi have also reached PS Faiz Gunj. He said that the girl would be handed over to her relatives after fulfilling some legal formalities.
It is expected that the girl would be produced before local court on Saturday. However, no FIR was registered till filing of this news.
On the other hand, a married woman namely Shanti Oad resident of Ghareebabad of Gambat town has appealed to the RPO Sukkur and other concerned authorities to provide protection to her.
Talking to press reporters in Gambat along with her mother Laila and brother she said that none of the concerned officials have assured her of protection. Shanti and her mother said that some years ago Shanti was married in Sukkur area where her husband alleged her of being Kari and sold her off against sixty thousand rupees to some influential persons in district Shikarpur. Shanti added that she managed to escape from there and reached her family in Ghareebabad and now she wants protection for herself and her family.

Qaim asks scholars to write books on Khairpur

Khairpur July 2, 2009: Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that books should be written on history, culture and tourism of Khairpur as professor late Atta Mohammad Hami.
“This open air theatre is associated with name of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto to be called Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Open Air Theatre Khairpur”, this was expressed by CM Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah after inaugurating the open air theatre in Khairpur on Wednesday late evening along with Ms. Sassi Palijo, the Provincial Minister Culture and Tourism Sindh. CM Sindh said that more entertainment places are being established in Sindh in order to provide healthy entertainment opportunities to the people of Sindh.
He said that a committee would be formed to tackle the on-going tribal disputes in Sindh so that law and order situation in such areas may be stabilized.
He said that former district Nazim Khairpur and currently PPP MNA Nafisa Shah has contributed for establishment of the open air theatre in Khairpur. Provincial Minister Culture and Tourism Ms. Sassi Palijo said that the open air theatre has been completed worth funds of four crore rupees and it has capacity of about 1200 seats. She added that the open air theatre would greatly benefit people of upper Sindh. She added that she was thankful to PPP MNA Nafisa Shah who contributed the plot for this open air theatre and the Culture and Tourism Department got it constructed.. She announced that an arts council and a museum would also be established in Khairpur so that the historical and cultural belongings of Talpur era/former Khairpur state may be displayed there.
On directives of the Provincial Minister Culture and Tourism Department Sassi Palijo the DG Culture Department Moonis Ayaz met Prince Mehdi Raza Talpur on Thursday for preservation and conservation of the historical Faiz Mahal. Prince Mehdi Raza gave some suggestions for preservation and conservation of Faiz Mahal Khairpur. DG Culture Department told DAWN that Prince Mehdi Raza along with giving some suggestions also offered that the museum be established in Faiz Mahal on certain conditions.

SALU budget

Khairpur: A meeting of Finance Planning Committee Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) Khairpur presided over by SALU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nilofar Shaikh was held at Senate Hall of the university on Thursday. The budget of 740.305 million and funds of 248.377 million rupees released by Higher Education Commission (HEC) was presented for the year 2009-2010.
The meeting also discussed on various development works for the university.
The budget passed by the committee would be presented before the University syndicate and if passed would then be presented before senate for approval.
The meeting was attended by deans of various faculties SALU Khairpur.

Qaim in Khaipur

Khairpur July 1, 2009: Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that government is taking efforts to raise the standard of education system and to improve the condition of school buildings in whole Sindh province; in this connection the government has released ten crore rupees’ funds to each of the districts in Sindh.
He said that the school students are to be given one glass of milk with biscuits in morning time besides free uniform and books; so that the poor children may also get education. He was delivering his presidential address at a reception hosted in his honour by Anjuman-e-Tajran Khairpur on Wednesday night in Khairpur.
The CM Sindh said that people are being waived off their jobs in a country like America but as many as fifty thousand jobs have been given by PPP government this year; and more jobs are being given.
He said that doctors posted in Thar and Nangar Parkar areas would be given monthly salary of forty thousand rupees along with residential facility and other facilities. Talking about
NFC award CM Sindh said that NFC award is not given on population basis but on multi-dimensional policy basis. CM Sindh said that coal of Thar is gold; it is now property of Sindh Province and he is president of Thar Coal Board; whereas during previous government tenure the president of Thar Coal board was from Federal government.
Talking about Law and order situation he said that government is taking great efforts to stabilize law and order situation. He added that crime rate is higher in New York than Karachi. He said that Khairpur has great historical importance; and nowadays Khairpur is the biggest district after Karachi.
The CM Sindh said that admissions in Khairpur Engineering College would be made after August; and a museum would be established in Khairpur city. He said that Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur and Radio Pakistan Khairpur station were established with efforts of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto during his tenure.
He said that problems of Khairpur city would soon be resolved; new tube-wells would be installed in Khairpur for sweet drinking water. He added that new departments are needed to be established in SALU, Khairpur and its standards would be made higher.

Earlier, Anjuman-e-Tajran Khairpur President Qutub-u-din Shaikh gave briefing to CM Sindh about problems of Khairpur city. CM Sindh visited under construction bridge on Indus River which links Khairpur and Larkana on Wednesday and is being constructed by National High way Authority. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the bridge would facilitate trade and other economic activities.
Project Director Idress Rajput briefed CM Sindh that the bridge is being constructed worth funds of 1444.028 Million rupees; its length is 1222.30 meters and width is 21.8 meters. The Project Director added that the bridge is expected to be completed by 2010.
